(TNS) Kane SAO announces New Year’s Eve anti-DUI initiative The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office will be working with police agencies on New Year’s Eve to enforce an anti-drunken driving initiative. The operation will start at 11 p.m. Dec. 31 and end at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1, according to a news release. It allows police to obtain search warrants for people who refuse to submit to chemical testing after a DUI arrest, a news release said. Kane County assistant state’s attorneys will be on hand to assist police through the search warrant process, which forces a DUI suspect to submit to a lawfully requested blood, breath or urine test, as required by state law. Illinois courts have ruled that chemical testing cannot be refused when probable cause exists, the release said. Anyone who rejects a request to be tested after being presented with a search warrant could face additional charges, officials said. East Dundee Arts Council seeking entries for art show The East Dundee Arts Council is accepting artwork submissions through Wednesday, Jan. 8, for its 2025 Black & White Art Show. Entries are limited to one per artist and require a $20 submission fee, according to a social media post for the event. The council hopes to include all art submitted but will make cuts if necessary due to limited space, the post said. The art show will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at multiple venues in the village’s downtown.
