LUMBERTON, N.C. (WBTW) — A 17-year-old wanted in a deadly altercation at a Lumberton store late Friday night has been identified, police said Monday afternoon. Jaylan Gray West of Lumberton is wanted after allegedly hitting and killing Billy Ray Huggins, 44, also of Lumberton. West is facing a first-degree murder charge. Man charged with DWI, murder in crash that killed North Carolina mother, 2 children The incident happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. Friday at Atkinson’s Cigarette Land at 3005 West 5th Street in Lumberton. Investigators said Huggins and West — who was driving a burgundy Chevrolet pickup truck — got into a parking lot altercation. West then got into his vehicle and intentionally struck the other person before fleeing the scene.
