MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A driver failed to make a designated stop just outside the City of Madera, leaving five vehicles involved in a crash that saw one vehicle flip over and another exit the roadway.
Officials say a Ford Escape was traveling northbound on Road 26 at Avenue 12 and the vehicle failed to stop and entered the intersection directly in front of a Nissan Frontier traveling westbound with the right of way.
The driver of the Nissan was unable to avoid a collision and collided with the Ford Escape. According to officials, the Ford Escape continued north and collided with two vehicles stopped at the stop sign on the opposite side of the intersection.
Officials say the Ford Escape overturned and came to rest on its roof, blocking the northbound lane of Road 26, north of Avenue 12. Flying debris from this crash hit a fifth vehicle.
According to officials, the multi-car collision resulted in minor injuries and all parties involved are lucky no one was greatly injured.
Always remember to look both ways before entering an intersection. With the holidays around the corner, expect more traffic on the roadways, so be extra careful. Don’t drive distracted, wear your seatbelt, and drive to arrive.
