Chicopee plans real time info center for public safety

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Chicopee Mayor John Vieau has announced the city is working to implement a "Real Time Information Center" to enhance public safety within the community.
According to Chicopee Police Chief Patrick Major, this is a technology-driven unit within the police department to provides real-time information and analytics to support officers, operations, and investigations.
The center takes in information from various sources, including stationary cameras, cameras in police vehicles, mapping data, alarm systems, and dispatch centers. The change is awaiting approval from the City Council.
