ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – De La Salle quarterback Toa Faavae decommitted from the University of Idaho Monday and announced, on social media, that he had flipped his commitment to New Mexico. The move comes after former Vandals head coach Jason Eck was named head coach at New Mexico. The three star, multi-sport athlete, Faavae is going to a UNM team that lost it's starting quarterback, Devon Dampier, to the transfer portal and Utah Utes. Dampier and the Lobos were fourth in the nation in total offense this past season. Faavae, just like Dampier, is a dual threat quarterback. The 6' 1" Faavae is known for his speed and ability to run the ball. He led his high school team to three consecutive state titles and excelled as a track and field athlete.
