KCPD investigating baby boy's death as a homicide

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Months after emergency responders went to a home where a 7-month-old boy was found unresponsive and later died, Kansas City police are investigating the death as a homicide.
KCPD detectives were notified Monday by medical examiners that the death of Giovanni Carr back in June has been ruled a homicide based on their medical findings.
Officers responded to the home at 53rd and Olive on June 15, where they found the boy suffering from significant physical trauma.
They took him to a hospital for further treatment, but he later died on June 20.

Family of the 7-month-old boy told FOX4 back in June, that his mother, Armoni, was starting the first day of a new job on Saturday, so she left Giovanni in the care of his godmother.
Family members FOX4 spoke to said that Giovanni sustained traumatic injuries to his brain and eyes, lacerations to multiple organs and burns on his feet.

KCPD detectives are continuing to investigate the case and have identified everyone believed to be involved.
KCPD said detectives are hopeful to have the case file submitted to the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office in the coming days for possible charges.
