The plan emphasizes 40 projects aimed at several key recovery areas including community planning, housing, infrastructure, economic recovery and more.

According to Maui Mayor Richard Bissen, the entire document reflects the needs and aspirations of the residents whose input will help "identify the funding sources necessary for these projects to be executed."
The first draft was introduced in late October, where it was presented at several open houses for the community to learn more and provide feedback.
After receiving more than 300 responses at the community events, Maui officials made several adjustments to address the following:
Removing delineation between priority and appendix projects
Clarifying estimated timeframes for project completion
Adding information on the anticipated level of public participation in the projects
Identifying interconnections between projects
Adding additional project details
Nearly 4,000 Lahaina residents and stakeholders were actively involved in the process as well, attending public testimonials, completing online surveys and participating in neighborhood workshops.
As we look to the future of Lahaina, this recovery plan is more than just a roadmap forward — it embodies the community’s shared vision for our future. Your input is the foundation of our recovery and rebuild of Lahaina town.
