MENOMONIE, Wis. (WFRV) – Firefighters in western Wisconsin saved a man’s life on Sunday after he became stuck inside a giant silo. According to a release, the Menomonie Fire Department was dispatched to assist the Boyceville Fire Department with the rescue of a man who was trapped in the silo. The man was approximately 60 feet above ground level, entangled in a sweep auger. Paramedics provided pain management, sedation, and applied a tourniquet before safely removing him. The Menomonie Fire Department’s Ladder Truck was used to cut the silo chute and safely lower the patient to the ground. The man was then transported by helicopter to a trauma center for further medical care.
