TULARE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A 20-year-old man from Tulare pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography and making a bomb threat hoax, in connection with a campaign of retaliation against a minor in Pennsylvania in 2023, the Department of Justice said Monday. According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, court documents and statements show that Nathaniel Sean Deleon of Tulare met a 16-year-old minor on the Roblox gaming platform and began an online relationship. Officials say the relationship then ended and thereafter between June 2023 and November 2023, Deleon caused law enforcement in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania to respond to 23 related swatted incidents at addresses in the county, the majority being at the minor's home. According to the DOJ, most of the swatting calls generally related information that someone had a gun and had killed, or was about to kill another person. On Nov. 30, 2023, officials say that Deleon identified himself as the minor victim, and informed a suicide prevention worker via an internet messaging application that the victim had placed pipe bombs in the classrooms and bathrooms of a Cumberland County high school. According to officials, as a result, approximately 650 students and staff from the school were evacuated. No bombs went off and it was determined that there were no explosive devices inside the school. Deleon also distributed sexually explicit video of the minor victim on two occasions inNovember 2023, the DOJ says. Deleon agreed to pay restitution in accordance with a schedule to be determined by theCourt. The maximum combined penalty under federal law for these offenses is 25 years, a termof supervised release following imprisonment and a fine.
