WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. One person was killed and two others were hospitalized following a crash that shut down a major intersection in Wheat Ridge for nearly six hours Monday.The crash was reported by the Wheat Ridge Police Department just after 9:30 a.m. It happened at the intersection of W. 44th Avenue and Kipling Street.Few details about the crash were immediately available, but a Wheat Ridge Police Department spokesperson said the serious crash had resulted in at least one person being killed. Two other people were hospitalized in critical condition, the spokesperson said in an update later Monday. The departments Crash and Traffic Team were at the scene to assist first responders in investigating the crash and officials warned the intersection was expected to remain shut down for hours while police combed the scene. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes to get around the crash, such as I-70 or 38th Avenue.The intersection was back open by 3:11 p.m.
