SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The son of former San Diego County Republican Party Chair Tony Krvaric was expected to face up to three years in prison for one felony count of possessing an assault weapon, but on Monday, he learned his case was reduced to a misdemeanor.
Victor Krvaric, 24, was arrested at his family's Miramar Ranch North home on Ann Arbor Lane after a search warrant was served by sheriff's deputies in September. He was booked into San Diego Central Jail under a felony possession of an assault weapon charge.

On Monday, in addition to having the case reduced to a misdemeanor, he was also placed on one-year probation with a fourth waiver and a firearm restriction, according to the San Diego County District Attorney's Office.
Following his son's sentencing, Tony Krvaric said, "I wish the media would have the decency to allow the children of former public figures to experience life privately like everyone else. Unfortunately, that's not the case. We all know that if he were not my son, none of you would be here."
The younger Krvaric has made headlines before. Back in 2022, an investigation was prompted into Victor, who was then a Marine Corps reservist, for alleged ties to a white nationalist hate group called Patriot Front. He has also described himself online as a “groyper,” or an alt-right provocateur.
In an emailed statement on behalf of his family following his son's arrest, Tony Krvaric asked for privacy as they navigate “a difficult time.” Krvaric led the Republican Party of San Diego County for 14 years, stepping down in 2020.
