'It's hard': Rincon restaurant owners forced to close after car crashes into front door
Dec 23, 2024
RINCON, Ga. (WSAV) — Dawgs and More, a restaurant in Rincon, is closing temporarily after a car crashed into their front door on Sunday night.
The owners of Dawgs and More, Chris and Lenore Brown specialize in gourmet hot dogs. It was a shock for the owners when the car ended up in their dining area.
Lenore said that they are trying to figure out their next steps while keeping their employees in mind.
"It's hard... I came in, and I freaked out," Lenore said.
Lenore said she was distraught when she saw the car sitting in their dining area, but this isn't the first time they've gone through tragedy at their business.
She said that a fire in summer 2023 kept them from opening when they wanted to. Now, they are $162,000 in debt, according to Lenore.
"All the money that we have had and saved... our life savings," Lenore said. "We don't have a partner. It's our own cash."
They said they're unsure of when they'll be back open, but their main concern is providing for the family they adopted for Christmas and their employees, many of them depending on their checks.
"I look at the families, and I know how hard they work for us," Lenore said. "They're here all the time. They give 110 percent."
They are trying to stay open by having a tent at the Rincon Christmas Market. All proceeds are going to these workers. Elizabeth Ray-Everett said that Brown has the biggest heart.

"She is always focusing on her community and helping the people around her. It's amazing to watch, and it's amazing to be a part of," Ray-Everett said.
Nikki White, a single mom of three, said she's thankful to work here.
"It's not a boss-employee feel to it," White said. "It just feels like we're all family. We all help each other out."
Lenore said she really doesn't know how they will come back from this, but they'll do what they've always done to make it work. They hope to have a grand reopening soon.
