Deadline extended for Hermits Peak Calf Canyon relief

LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) – Residents who lost property in the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon fire two years ago now have more time to file their claims. As part of the continuing resolution approved last week, Congress has added another $1.5 billion in relief funds to fire victims.

Congress also pushed the claims deadline by three months, meaning the last day to file for compensation isn now March 14. The fire destroyed more than 900 structures and burned 341,000 acres, making it the largest wildfire in state history.
