Festive flakes to dust New England Christmas Eve
Dec 23, 2024
It was a frigid start to Christmas week – we awoke to temps between 5 and 15° this morning! It was Providence’s coldest morning in almost 2 full years (9°)
After a sunny day, clouds will move in tonight ahead of a quick-moving clipper system. This will send a few snow showers our way Tuesday morning.
Overall, it’ll be a pretty low-impact snow event. We could see a coating, especially in northern portions of the area.
Keep in mind if you are traveling well north, the higher elevations (like the Worcester Hills and the Berkshires) could see an inch or two.
Sunshine returns by the afternoon and we are looking at very tranquil weather for Christmas/Hanukkah and right through the end of the week.
We will also see temperatures gradually climb, from the mid-30s on Christmas Day to near 50 later in the weekend.
The mild weather is likely to continue through New Year’s Eve and Day, but it looks like a fairly active weather pattern, which means umbrellas will be necessary next week.
