Thibodaux motorcyclist killed in Terrebonne Parish crash

TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a crash that left a Thibodaux motorcyclist dead in Terrebonne Parish.
On Sunday, Dec. 22, the LSP reported that the crash happened on Louisiana Highway 24 at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 311 around 3 p.m.

LSP officials said an initial investigation shows that 19-year-old Gabe Gautreaux was riding a motorcycle south on Louisiana Highway 24 while a Ford was driving east on Louisiana Highway 311.
The motorcycle reportedly collided with the Ford as it crossed the intersection at Louisiana Highway 24.
Gautreaux suffered severe injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Monday, Dec. 23, despite wearing the proper helmet.

The driver of the Ford was uninjured and "displayed no signs of impairment and voluntarily submitted to a breath sample, which shown no alcohol detected."
According to the LSP, Gautreaux was riding the motorcycle "at a high rate of speed."
LSP officials said the investigation is ongoing, and routine toxicology samples were collected.
