Warm, humid weather returns to Gulf Coast for Christmas
Dec 23, 2024
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Patchy fog could develop tonight across parts of the area, especially near waterways and low-lying regions.
A mix of clear skies and light winds Tuesday night will bring a chance for similar fog development. However, increasing moisture and shifting winds could lead to more clouds forming later in the night.
By Wednesday, a weak front moving through the region is expected to spark scattered showers and a few storms. The heaviest rain is not likely to cause major issues, though brief ponding on roads could occur.
Looking ahead, the stalled front will bring several days of warm, cloudy, and drizzly conditions through the end of the week.
By Sunday, a stronger cold front is forecast to move in, bringing cooler, drier air to the region. This change could clear out the lingering cloudy and rainy weather, but there’s some uncertainty about how quickly the front will pass.
Temperatures will remain mild this week, with highs in the 60s and 70s and lows mostly in the 50s to lower 60s. Stay tuned for updates as the weekend cold front approaches.
