Family dog and Christmas gifts rescued after house fire, leaving Wisconsin family of five without a home

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - A family of five, along with their family dog, has been displaced after a structure fire just days before Christmas.
According to a release from the City of Madison Fire Department, a large fire had engulfed an attached garage, located on Knollwood Way, spreading to the living spaces of the home.
The fire department states that they were able to retrieve Christmas gifts and other belongings for the family, as well as the family dog.

After the family safely evacuated the home, firefighters stated they went back inside to rescue their dog, who was found unresponsive on the first floor.
The dog was resuscitated by first responders and transported by its owners to a local emergency vet where the dog is currently in stable condition.
The American Red Cross is providing additional assistance for the family.
The MFD Fire Investigation Team is still investigating the cause of the fire. No additional information has been provided at this time.
