Wisconsin man charged after Sunday stabbing leaves one hospitalized

HUDSON, Wis. (WFRV) - A brutal stabbing in western Wisconsin on Sunday evening left one person hospitalized and another in custody.
Hudson Police responded to a report of a stabbing on the 400 block of Orange Street in Hudson shortly before 6:15 p.m. The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries but is now in stable condition, according to a social media update.

The suspect, identified as James A. Herriman Jr., 56, of Hudson, was arrested and booked into the St. Croix County Jail. Court records indicate Herriman Jr. is facing multiple charges, including:
Attempted first-degree intentional homicide (use of a dangerous weapon)
Aggravated battery with intent to cause great bodily harm (use of a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse)
Disorderly conduct (domestic abuse)

Herriman Jr. appeared in court on Monday, where Judge Scott Needham set a $250,000 cash bond. At the time of this report, Herriman Jr. has not posted bail.
He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 2, 2025. No further details have been released.
