ALGOMA, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in Winnebago County wanted to remind the public that an airboat partially above water that can be seen from I-41 will stay there until later in the week. According to the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office, on December 21 there was a report of an airboat that crashed and sunk in open water. The incident could reportedly be seen from the I-41 bridge on Lake Butte Des Morts. Officials say two people were in the boat when it crashed. According to the release, both made it safely to shore. Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources: Inland trout early catch and release season starts soon On Monday, authorities provided an update on the incident saying the airboat is still submerged, but is partially above water. The boat will 'likely' remain in its current position until later in the week. No additional information was provided.
