BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) — A couple in the capital city has received a special gift, just in time for Christmas. On Monday, December 23, workers at Abra Auto Body and Buller Automotive surprised Tyler and Alexa Bachmeier with the keys to a Chevy Traverse. The car was fixed up and donated to the couple as part of the National Auto Body Council's Recycled Rides program. Tyler and Alexa were nominated for the program by their family through New Song Church in Bismarck. Earlier this year, Tyler suffered a medical emergency while driving in Bismarck, which resulted in crashing and totaling his vehicle. Where is Santa? How to track his Christmas 2024 journey "Somehow, I made it all the way to Myhre Elementary before I crashed the car," Tyler recalls. "I think there was actually somebody in the community who used their vehicle to stop me from hitting more people. I never found out who that was. Whoever it is, if you're watching this, thank you." "It's like I'm walking on air," Alexa continues. "It's like I'm on a cloud right now. Like this whole time, like my whole life, I've been just driving cars that barely even worked — breaking down on me. I just didn't know when they were going to stop working. To get this car is incredible." Farmers Insurance bought and donated the vehicle, which was previously involved in an accident. Mechanics at Abra Auto Body then fixed it up, and had it pass a detailed inspection before handing off the keys to the Bachmeiers. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
