Missing 72yearold man found dead in Sequoia National Forest

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 72-year-old man who was reported missing and considered at-risk due to having dementia last Thursday, was found deceased over the weekend, according to the Visalia Police Department.
According to the Visalia Police Department, 72-year-old Manuel Ignacio Mendoza was first reported missing on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Officials say he left his home in Visalia the day before around 5 p.m. and was driving a 2003 tan Mercury four-door vehicle.
The last sighting of Mendoza was in Delano at around 9:07 p.m. that night.
On Saturday, Dec. 21, around 10 a.m. the Visalia Police said they were notified by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife that Mendoza had been located.
Unfortunately, he was found deceased a short distance from his vehicle in the Sequoia National Forest.
The Visalia Police Department worked with the California Highway Patrol to issue a Silver Alert which was pending approval at the time he was located.
No foul play is suspected and the death investigation is being conducted by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.
