1 dead in Wheat Ridge crash, major intersection closed, police say

Wheat Ridge police officers are investigating after a Monday morning crash left one person dead and shut down a major intersection.
The crash happened at the intersection of West 44th Avenue and Kipling Street, according to a 9:32 a.m. statement from the Wheat Ridge Police Department.
Information on the number of cars and victims involved, the cause and what led up to the crash was unavailable Monday morning.
Police said the intersection will be closed for hours during the crash investigation but did not give a firm reopening time. Drivers should avoid the area.
