AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A number of local businesses closed their doors in 2024. In Memorium, here are a few of the lost local restaurants and businesses. Austin Antique Mall The antique shopping destination closed in May after over 40 years in business. Austin Antique Mall to close after 40 years (KXAN photo/Abigail Jones) Austin Aeronauts The hot air balloon business closed in October. The business closed abruptly, and the owner said bookings decreased over 70% this year. Baby Acapulco's The Barton Spring restaurant closed in October, but its Riverside Drive and Stonelake Boulevard locations remained open. The Tex-Mex restaurant was known for its purple margaritas. Easy Tiger's other locations remained open. Foxtrot Foxtrot closed its coffee shops nationwide in April, which included four Austin locations on Burnet Road, Guadalupe Street, West Second Street and South First Street. Icenhauer's The Rainey Street bar held its final closing party in November. The bar opened in 2010, according to its social media. Oat Willie's The smoke shop, which opened in 1968, closed in November. Oat Willie's final location was on East Oltorf Street. Outer Heaven The nightclub will close in early 2025 when its lease ends. The bar will be replaced by condos, according to owners. Stars Cafe The restaurant closed in November to make way for Interstate 35 expansion construction. South Congress Books The bookstore, which was previously on South Congress, will close its Kerby Lane shop in January. Try Hard Coffee The east Austin coffee shop closed in April. The owners cited growing debt as the cause of the closure.
