Newlyrenovated Providence ice rink to open for winter season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Mayor Brett Smiley will announce the opening of the Providence Ice Rink today.
The press conference will include an appearance from Santa and a holiday performance from the Lillian Feinstein Elementary School Choir.
After, several actors from the Trinity Repertory Company will perform songs from their current production of A Christmas Carol.
The ice rink had undergone a $2.5 million renovation, and includes several key upgrades designed to “enhance the skating experience, improve sustainability, and ensure the space remains a year-round destination.”
According to a release, the improvements include a new cold floor, a state-of-the-art chiller system, and clear dasher boards.
Guests can enjoy ice skating starting from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily until early March of 2025, weather permitting.
Ice bumper cars will be available Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. through 10 a.m.
The Providence Ice Rink will also offer a variety of activities for visitors of all ages including daily public skating sessions, with special holiday hours for families and visitors to enjoy the ice.
The rink will also be decorated with festive lights and music to celebrate the season.
