Over seven decades of helping families during the holiday season

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The annual Toys for Tots gift giveaway has concluded its 77th year of helping families.
The Marine Corps has been collecting brand new toys in the box to give away to families who need a little extra help during the holiday season.
They begin collecting toys in October and continue through December .
The troops and volunteers organize and separate them for families to take home just in time for Christmas.
Local nonprofits help Topeka wrap up holiday shopping
The Northeast Kansas coordinator, Brett Peterson, told 27 News it's a heartwarming experience to be apart of every year.
"I just love putting smiles on the families faces when you hand them their toys, it's just very heartwarming," Peterson said.
