TAKOMA PARK, Md. (DC News Now) -- The cold couldn't keep family and friends away from Takoma-Piney Branch Park Saturday night as they gathered to remember Malik Lee. "My heart is broken," said Althea Lee, Malik Lee's mother. DC Police found Malik Lee's body along Cincinnati Alley off Columbia Road NW near 17th Street in the Adams Morgan neighborhood on Dec. 8. He had been stabbed. "He was very loving. He was so much fun in my family," Althea Lee told the crowd at the vigil. Takoma Park mother mourns son who died after being stabbed in DC Malik Lee taught at Highland Elementary School in Silver Spring. Parents of his students joined others at the ceremony. "The first thing you noticed when you walk in the room, and make eye contact with Malik, he always had a smile on his face," said Chris Miller, a parent. "He always greeted you. My children absolutely loved him." There's one unanswered question Malik Lee's family and others seek -- who took his life? "I am seeking justice. Justice and closure," Althea Lee said. "I lost my son." The public is encouraged to contact D.C. police if they have any information about Lee's death.
