ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Fire crews knocked down a massive house fire overnight Sunday on Parmelee Road in LeRoy. According to the LeRoy Fire Department, the homeowner was able to escape after a smoke alarm went off. Fire crews were called to the fire around 2:30 a.m. The driveway was described as "icy and inaccessible" and necessitated the use of four-wheel drive vehicles and UTVs to reach the home, according to the Bergen Fire Department which assisted LeRoy. The Town of LeRoy Highway sent a plow to help salt.
"Gear froze stiff, and maintaining functionality of hoses, tools, and vehicles demanded extraordinary effort," Bergen Fire announced.
In the end, fire crews were given Dunkin Donuts coffee as a thank you. No firefighters were injured.
