ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) - The scene in downtown Rochester on Sunday was fun and festive as nearly 1,000 people took part in Fleet Feet and YellowJacket Racing's Annual Reindeer Run!
Folks from all around Rochester got their exercise in despite the frigid temperature outside. The race went mostly along the Genesee River Path, starting and ending at the Blue Cross Arena.

Owner of Fleet Feet and YellowJacket Racing Ellen Brenner-Boutillier have helped organize the race for about 12 years. She said that many of those who took part were prepared for the cold this year and persevered through it.
"For the folks that showed up: kudos to them, they deserve the medal they earned," Brenner-Boutillier said.
Brenner-Boutillier also explained that it's a tradition aiming to unify the community during the holiday season.
"We want to be inclusive of all the holidays, so we celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas -whichever holiday it may be, we want people to get together, have fun, have fitness and just enjoy each other's company while ringing in the holiday," Brenner-Boutillier said.

Some of those who ran set fitness goals for themselves, even kids who ran in the Kids Mile.
"I'm feeling pretty good about it, because I don't think I'm going to get in last place," Reindeer Run participant Jack Cunningham said.
