WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Westfield crews successfully contained a large fire late Saturday night, despite high winds and freezing temperatures. According to officials, the Westfield Regional Dispatch Center received reports of a structure fire at around 10:30 p.m. at 189 Springfield Road. Firefighters worked quickly to bring the flames under control, preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent structures. The Westfield Fire Department received support from the 104th Fighter Wing Barnes Air National Guard Fire & Rescue team during the incident. Additionally, the American Red Cross provided assistance to displaced residents, ensuring they had access to essential resources in the aftermath of the fire. Despite the challenges posed by strong winds and cold weather, the fire was successfully contained. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
