Leaders assists during disorder at Claxton youth detention center

CLAXTON, Ga. (WSAV) - The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) officials are currently working to restore order at the Claxton Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC).
Glenn Allen, the DJJ spokesperson, said in a statement to News 3, "I can confirm that no riot has occurred at Claxton RYDC. Several youths refuse to follow our officers' directives, but facility leadership is currently at the RYDC to assist the staff.".
Allen said there are no reports of injuries.
The Claxton RYDC serves Appling, Bryan, Bulloch, Candler, Emanuel, Evans, Liberty, Long, Tattnall, Toombs and Wayne counties.
