ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – A Chaves County man is facing charges after state police say he slammed into a sheriff deputy's vehicle while extremely intoxicated. On Thursday, the Chaves County Sheriff's Office said a driver was waiting to turn in the intersection of Brasher and Sunset in South Roswell.
They say the driver collided with another car, striking a deputy's vehicle parked behind them. When state police arrived to investigate, they found the driver, later identified as Alfredo Medrano Toribio, had several signs of being intoxicated.

State police say Medrano-Toribio admitted to drinking earlier in the day. When a blood alcohol test was given, NMSP says he blew a .40, around five times the legal limit.
He was transported to the Chaves County Detention Center and is facing an aggravated driving under the influence charge.
