Virginia Beach fire displaces three adults, causes damage to singlestory home

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- Three adults are displaced following an overnight house fire in Virginia Beach.
At around 3:35 a.m. Sunday, the Virginia Beach Fire Department was dispatched to the 4700 block of Whistler Lane in reference to a reported residential structure fire.
Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke and flames from the front of the single-story home.

The residents were awakened by smoke alarms and evacuated the home before crews arrived.
Two of the occupants were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
The fire was marked under control at approximately 3:55 a.m. and marked out by 4:55 a.m.
The fire originated in the laundry room and is believed to be electrical in nature. Fire officials ruled the fire accidental.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents with temporary housing.
