Southeast Wisconsin weather: Messy wintry mix Monday
Dec 22, 2024
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY BEGINS AT 3 AM MONDAY MORNING AND CONTINUES THROUGH MONDAY EVENING. Monday will be a busy travel day and unfortunately, we will have some messy winter weather to contend with.An area of low pressure moves eastward tonight, bringing more moisture into Wisconsin. Isolated showers and light snow are possible late tonight. By Monday morning, freezing drizzle moves in, creating potential for a glaze of ice and slick spots on roads. Road and ground temperatures are still cold, so as moisture falls on top of those cold surfaces, they can develop that glaze of ice. Be especially careful on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses. In the afternoon, temperatures will warm some, and a mix of rain, freezing drizzle, and snow is expected. Minor snow accumulations are possible north of 94. Some freezing drizzle could linger into Monday evening, but as of now, the advisory will expire at 6pm. Consider adjusting travel plans as needed. Highs Monday will be in the mid to upper 30s.Warmer weather is the trend for much of the upcoming week. Tuesday brings the chance for flurries with highs in the upper 30s. Christmas will top out around 40 degrees with some isolated rain showers.Rain chances increase this weekend as highs jump into the upper 40s.
