MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The family of a Shelby County woman allegedly killed by her own son is speaking out.
65-year-old Rochelle Hill was found dead in her backyard two months ago.
As Hill's family continues to mourn the loss of the beloved matriarch, WREG spoke with her other son who said he's still trying to make sense of what happened.
"It's hard to put - to talk about a person that's no longer here," a family friend said of Hill during Saturday's memorial.

A video shared with WREG showed family and friends saying their final goodbyes to Rochelle Hill affectionately known as Shelly.
"She wasn't a friend. She was family," a loved one said. "I'm going to miss her dearly."
During her lifetime, the family says Hill wore many hats.
She was a friend, a daughter, a sister, and even an esteemed dental hygienist.

But the title she held closest to her heart was her role as a mother.
"A lot of people, they see me and they think I'm just toughing it out but they don't realize that it hits," Wesley Hill-Miller said.
Wesley Hill-Miller was Rochelle Hill's older son and said his mother was a fierce lioness who did everything she could to protect her sons.
"Very beautiful, strong, independent woman that just loved to bring the whole community together," Hill-Miller said.
However, to his surprise, when his mother went home at night she had to protect herself.
"She didn't deny it but she would just downplay it because I would always ask what's going on," Hill-Miller said. "I'm finding out stuff that I didn't even know about. She used to have to sleep with the door locked."
On October 20, Shelby County deputies made a shocking and ghastly discovery on the property of Hill's Southeast Shelby County home.
She had been brutally killed, and the suspected killer is her youngest son, 24-year-old Tevon Rose.

Wesley, who lives in California, says when he learned the details of her death, he wasn't surprised that his baby brother was the accused killer.
"I know my brother is not mentally all the way with us," Hill-Miller said. "I didn't realize he was that dangerous, though."
He said his brother suffers from mental illness and often spoke about hearing voices.
Welsey said his brother's mental state worsened over the years.
Close family friends said Hill relentlessly sought help for her son whom she deeply loved but could never find the right fit for his specific needs.
"He went to a few institutions, but she always would end up getting him out," Hill-Miller said. "She couldn't do it herself."
Rose is charged with murder, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, and resisting arrest.
Even in his grief, Wesley said he does not harbor animosity towards his brother.
"I have no ill will towards him because I know he's not right mentally," Hill-Miller said.

It's unclear what may have happened leading up to Hill's death.
According to court records, Rose is currently undergoing a mental evaluation.
Wesley says he hopes his brother can finally get the help he needs and that their mother would've wanted.
"I just hope he gets the right treatment," Hill-Miller said. "The penitentiary won't be good for him. He's probably going to need an institution, but either way, it's going to be a long road for him."
Family and friends say while this tragedy leaves a stain on their hearts, Hill will forever be remembered as the loving, caring woman they knew.
Wesley says he hopes that sharing her story will bring more awareness to mental illness and the toll it can take on a family if not properly treated.
"I'm just proud of her, where she came from, and what she came through because I know it was rough," Hill-Miller said.
Rose is due back in court on January 21st.
