CSPD: Attempted sexual assault south of downtown

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A woman escaped an attempted sexual assault south of downtown Colorado Springs on Sunday, Dec. 22, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
Around 2 a.m. on Sunday, CSPD received a report of an attempted sexual assault in the 1800 block of South Nevada Avenue, near East Cheyenne Road. According to CSPD, the victim reported that she was walking home from the downtown area when an unknown man began to follow her.
CSPD said that the man followed the woman for over half a mile, and then attacked her from behind, forcibly groping her before trying to drag her somewhere. She was able to escape the assault and ran away from him.
According to CSPD, the suspect is unknown at this time. Detectives with the Adult Sex Assault Unit will continue the investigation.
