The Carolinas remain in Jack Frost’s clutches just three days away from Christmas. Monday will be another sunny but cold day with widespread 30s and 40s for highs after starting out in the teens and 20s. More clouds will build in overnight as a coastal system develops to our east. As temperatures dip near freezing again early Tuesday morning, some moisture may turn to light and isolated pockets of freezing rain south and east of the Queen City. Don’t count on any limited accumulations to amount to much; most communities in the WCCB Charlotte viewing area will remain completely dry. Partly-to-mostly cloudy skies around the Metro and eastward stick around through Tuesday morning before more sunshine returns by the afternoon. Temperatures will respond positively to the sunnier skies, jumping into the mid-50s for our Christmas Eve. Expect similar conditions for our Christmas Day Wednesday. A weak disturbance from the west could bring morning clouds into the Carolinas by Christmas night, but models are suggesting all of its moisture stays west of the Appalachians. The back half of the week is trending drier, but more rain chances return by next weekend. Tonight: Clear and cold. Low: 22°. Wind: Light. Monday: Chilly sunshine. High: 45°. Wind: NE 5-10. Monday Night: Clouds build. Few showers and patchy freezing drizzle E. Low: 32°. Wind: Light. Tuesday: AM partly cloudy. PM mostly sunny. High: 54°. Light.
