CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person died and two firefighters were injured from a two-alarm fire at a south Charlotte apartment complex on Sunday afternoon. Just before 11:45 a.m., firefighters were called to The Crossing at Quail Hollow Apartments off Park Road. That complex is adjacent to South Mecklenburg High School. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the roof of the apartment building. A second alarm was issued shortly thereafter. The fire was controlled by 12:30 p.m. One person was found dead at the scene, Charlotte Fire said. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and are being evaluated. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
