ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man is facing charges after police say he rammed into an Albuquerque Police Department (APD) vehicle while intoxicated Friday night. According to APD, officers responded to a parking lot at Central and 7th Street around 10:30 p.m. to a truck doing burnouts. Police say as they approached the driver, later identified as Ricardo Mones, he reversed into an APD vehicle before driving off. They also say Mones started driving the wrong way on Lead, with air support showing him eventually crashing into another vehicle head-on. 10th APD officer placed on administrative leave in DWI Unit investigation Police say Mones was later found hiding in a bush near Central and I-25. Mones was arrested and taken to the hospital, along with several other people who were in the truck at the time of the crash. APD says Mones refused a blood alcohol test. He was booked into MDC and is facing aggravated battery, fleeing, and DWI charges.
