Richmond basketball bounces back with win over VMI

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Spiders defeated VMI 78-71 on Saturday, using a strong 18-0 run to take control of the game. Richmond trailed 22-14 midway through the first half but finished the period leading 41-29. VMI never got closer than four points in the second half. This win gave Richmond its fifth straight victory over VMI.
Dusan Neskovic led Richmond with a season-high 23 points, shooting 8-16 from the field, including 3-8 from three-point range, and 4-4 from the free-throw line. DeLonnie Hunt scored 16 points, with 11 coming from free throws. Apostolos Roumoglou added 10 points, his second double-digit game of the week. Mike Walz contributed 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks, setting a career high in blocks.
Richmond also had 12 offensive rebounds, a season-high, and 18 assists. Collin Tanner contributed 4 points and 4 rebounds in 9 minutes, with a team-high plus-minus of +15. B. Artis White scored 8 points and had 2 assists in his first game back from an elbow injury.
This win snapped a three-game losing streak, bringing Richmond's record to 5-7. The Spiders will play FGCU next Saturday, December 28, at 6 PM at the Robins Center.
