The Honolulu Zoo just got even more fun for everyone
Each treat was wrapped into "creative creations to provide visual, olfactory, auditory or tactile stimuli" for the animals.
Providing our animals with environmental and physical enrichment is extremely important to ensuring their health and wellbeing, every day. I’d like to extend a huge mahalo to Shelby Carlos, Honolulu Zoo Society Community Engagement Director, who passionately coordinated their staff and volunteers, and worked with our zoo staff to make this event possible. Together, they have done an excellent job of creating a festive and enjoyable experience for our animals and guests every year.
Linda Santos, Honolulu Zoo director
Zoo gates opened up to the public at 10 a.m. to watch the animals open their gifts. Keiki were also invited to the Keiki Zoo for photos and coloring sheet creations at Santa's Workshop.
Of course, the holiday fun would not have been completed without a special visit from Santa, who visited the zoo's Hale Imi ‘Ike classroom.
