1 dead after Tangipahoa Parish shooting, Louisiana State Police investigate

HAMMOND, La. (WGNO) — Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Tangipahoa Parish on Saturday, Dec. 21.
State police reported that the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office contacted its detectives to investigate a shooting involving a deputy on South Baptist Road near U.S. Highway 90 around 11:55 p.m.
Details are limited at this time; however, LSP officials said one suspect has died.
In a statement, Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker said, "This is an unfortunate situation at a truly tragic time. We have turned to State Police to lead this investigation. Our agency is following all appropriate protocols and policies and I want the community to know TPSO, in collaboration with State Police, will be sharing all of the details about this incident, at the appropriate time, as they become available throughout the investigative process."
The investigation is ongoing, and no deputies were injured.
