VICTOR, N.Y. (WROC) - The sound of bells, holiday music and chatter filled the air at Eastview Mall Saturday as many local folks went shopping for some last minute holiday gifts. Despite the snowy weather, the parking lot stayed packed and many of the stores were consistently busy throughout the afternoon, an influx that was anticipated by experts. Weather Forecast: Bracing the cold for the rest of the weekend The National Retail Federation estimated that 157 million consumers across the country planned to shop in stores Saturday, of which thousands of them did in the Rochester area. Nick Colilli, who now lives in Tampa, returns to his hometown of Rochester during the holidays each year and shops. "It's my favorite time of the year," Colilli said. "It's nice to come visit, see the snow and enjoy the time with my family and friends." Not everyone at the mall Saturday was there for holiday shopping, however. Some decided to go to treat themselves to the seasonal deals that many stores at Eastview had. "For the most part, I've wrapped and given all of my presents to the people I got them for," holiday shopper Zane Millecchia said. "The only gifts I haven't given out are for my immediate family, but we're waiting for Christmas Day to do that of course". Rochester malls remove courtesy wheelchairs, scooters for patrons Some folks shopping Saturday were preparing for their holiday plans coming up this week. "I have some people coming from out of town- Texas, San Diego, so I'm really excited to see them," holiday shopper Tyler Abel said. If you still have last-minute shopping to get done for the holidays, both Eastview Mall and The Mall at Greece Ridge will be open the next few days leading up to Christmas.
