PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A Porterville man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly distributing child sexual abuse material on the internet, the Porterville Police Department announced.
On Aug. 14, detectives say they received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding a Porterville resident who uploaded a media file containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
On Oct. 29 and Nov. 7, investigators say they received additional tips of CSAM being uploaded from different usernames but the same IP address as the original report. The investigation led detectives to evidence identifying a 21-year-old Porterville resident they named YZ Racar Hayes.
Officers say Hayes was reportedly downloading pornographic images and/or videos of children under the age of 18 and distributing the images to online users from his home in the 500 block of Scarlett Oak Avenue in Porterville.
Police say an arrest warrant and search warrant were authored and signed for Hayes and his residence following the investigation.
On Wednesday, Dec. 18, around 8:15 a.m. detectives responded to Hayes' home where he was arrested without incident. A variety of electronic devices were collected as evidence for further forensic analysis.
Police report Hayes was booked on suspicion of possession of child sexual abuse material and distribution of child sexual abuse material for commercial purposes. He is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bail.
