NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Army National Guard says two women were rescued while hiking New Mexico's highest mountain Friday night. According to the National Guard, two women in their 20s became stranded while hiking Wheeler Peak in northern New Mexico with no cold weather gear.
Residents raise concerns over possible changes to Taos Ski Valley
Temperatures fell below freezing, a helicopter crew was dispatched near the peak around 1:00 a.m. The guard says the women had no reported injuries and were taken to the Santa Fe Regional Airport.
The women then arranged for their own transportation once at the airport.
