DE PERE, Wis (WFRV) - St. Michael’s Church in De Pere is offering a special way for families to reconnect with the true meaning of the season through a live nativity scene. Donations support St. Michael's; they are encouraged but not required.
Greg Pauly, an organizer of the event, shared that the main message they aim to convey is the importance of remembering the original Christmas.
“There’s so much in the world today, it’s just about buying gifts, spending so much time on things that don’t even relate to the true original Christmas,” Pauly said. “We’re just trying to bring them back to that time and focus on what we’re celebrating.”
For Pauly, the event offers a deeper opportunity to reflect. “It brings you back to what’s important,” he explained. “Maybe it encourages people to go out and do charity work or do different things in their community.”
Attendees also shared their thoughts on the event’s significance. Tracy Conway, who traveled from Abrams to attend.
“It’s really nice, it’s something to do for Christmas, it’s the meaning of the season,” Tracy said.
For those seeking a meaningful Christmas experience, the live nativity scene at St. Michael's Church offers a chance to reflect on the holiday's true meaning.
The event, which runs this weekend with hours on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m., features live music, animals, cookies, hot cocoa, and ornaments available for purchase to benefit the church.
