(KRON) – A person has died in a fatal collision in Redwood City Saturday morning, according to authorities.   California Highway Patrol officials responded to the northbound Whipple Avenue offramp for the report of a car crash between two vehicles around 1:43 a.m. Redwood City Fire Department also responded to the scene. In a video obtained by KRON4, a white Subaru collided with a ramp pickup truck, which resulted in the front half of the vehicle condensing. The Subaru’s bumper was hanging from the car, which was later determined to have occurred when authorities attempted to rescue the driver.   The driver of the Subaru was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the CHP. The driver alerted authorities of the crash.  CHP said the ramp pickup truck contractor was parked, straddling the first two lanes when the Subaru “left the open lanes, entered the closed lane, [and] hit at least a couple of cones before crashing into the rear of the ramp pickup truck.”  CHP said the occupants of the pickup truck were uninjured.  It is unclear if alcohol was a factor in this collision.  This story will be updated.
