SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield thunderbirds player will be heading to the World Junior Championship next week. Dalibor Dvorsky will represent Slovakia for his fourth and final year. The 19-year-old is the first active Thunderbird to be named to the World Junior roster. Dvorsky's 11 goals are also tied for the most by a rookie in the AHL this season. As a leader on the Slovakia team he hopes to motivate and challenge his teammates to work together. "Last few years we went out in the quarter finals, in overtime," expressed Thunderbirds Forward, Dalibor Dvorsky. "So, this year I want to play the game for the medals, the semis, and then after. That is our goal coming into the tournament." Dvorsky and the Thunderbirds will face off against Sweden at 12 p.m. on December 26th.
