PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) -- A man was killed early Saturday morning after a shooting in Portsmouth, according to police. At approximately 5:05 a.m., Portsmouth Police responded to the 1800 block of Garrett Street in reference to shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found a man with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. This is an active homicide investigation with the PPD Major Crime Unit. There is no threat to the public, and investigators are not looking for suspects.
