President-elect Trump announced that Mark Burnett will serve as the special envoy to the United Kingdom in his next administration in a Saturday post on Truth Social. “With a distinguished career in television production and business, Mark brings a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition to this important role,” Trump told his followers. Burnett, 64, was born in the UK and created NBC’s “The Apprentice," which Trump served as the host of for 10 seasons. He also produced “Survivor,” “The Voice” and “Shark Tank” among other large television projects, and has won several Primetime Emmy awards. “Mark will work to enhance diplomatic relations, focusing on areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment opportunities, and cultural exchanges,” Trump added in his post. The former president previously declared billionaire Warren Stephens would be the ambassador to the UK. It is unclear how Burnett's role will fit into Trump's diplomacy efforts and whether the position will require a Senate confirmation. Burnett previously opposed Trump and his bid for the White House. “I am not now and have never been a supporter of Donald Trump’s candidacy. I am NOT ‘Pro-Trump,’” Burnett released in a statement obtained by The Wrap in 2016..  “Further, my wife and I reject the hatred, division and misogyny that has [sic] been a very unfortunate part of his campaign,” he added.
