Seekonk man faces several charges after alleged breakin following chase

MARION, Mass. (WLNE) — A man from Seekonk is facing multiple charges after Marion police said he allegedly fled from officers after breaking into a home in Marion.
56-year-old Peter Soares was arrested and charged with;
Breaking and Entering During the Daytime with Intent to Commit a Felony,
Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle,
Failure to Stop for Police,
Operating a Motor Vehicle to Endanger,
Speeding,
Marked Lanes Violation,
Disorderly Conduct.
According to officials, Marion Police responded to Abels Way on Friday afternoon after a resident reported that a man was seen on the home’s Ring doorbell.
The man was seen allegedly stealing a lawn trimmer, and leaving in a white pickup truck.
Two Marion Police officers would later notice a vehicle matching that description near Route 6.
One officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the truck allegedly fled at a high speed.
Police said the officer stopped pursuing the truck due to safety concerns.
Officers would later observe truck after it had crashed in a nearby parking lot.
Soares, who was identified to be driving the truck, attempted to run away toward the water, but was take into custody.
He transported to a local hospital for evaluation, but soon released to police.
Police determined that Soares had allegedly entered the house and a shed, and had also stolen additional property.
He’s expected to be arraigned in Wareham District Court on Monday.
